Glencoe Grand Prix
EVENT DESCRIPTION: Since 2007, The Glencoe Grand Prix has featured one of the deepest fields in domestic professional cycling. This year is no different, as the race will have one of its best lineups ever, with elite national and international riders on both the men’s and women’s side competing Saturday, June 1. Over 100 combined pro men and women–and growing–will be competing on the 1.3 mile, 10-corner lap along the streets of Chicago’s most scenic suburb, Glencoe, Ill. The course includes a descent and brief rise on the western part of the course. Considered one of the most challenging in the Midwest, it offers technical turns and a false flat before you turn into town, where the course concludes with a wide breakaway.
There will be amateur and junior races going on all day, beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 3:55 p.m., when the women’s pro race begins. The purse for the women’s race is $7,500. The men’s race is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with a purse of $15,000.
