EVENT DESCRIPTION: The OPTUM/TMC Old Pueblo Grand Prix is a premier cycling event in the heart of downtown Tucson that is FREE to spectators. New for 2013, the Old Pueblo Grand Prix will be part of the USA Cycling National Criterium Calendar and still part of the USA CRITS series. With $23,000 in cash prizes the Old Pueblo Grand Prix will attract top professional athletes from around the country.

The Women’s Pro and Cat 1/2 race along the .6-mile course will begin at 6:00pm MST. Following the 7:00pm MST Cruiser Drag Races, the Pro and Cat 1 Men will take to the streets at 8:00pm MST and will finish under the stars and the glow of the 2-story-high HD Video Screen provided by Cox Communications.

Tucson’s popular monthly music and entertainment festival, Second Saturdays will be in full swing as the racing winds down. The 2013 OPTUM/TMC Old Pueblo Grand Prix is an event for everyone including kids race, community bike parade, BMX Stunt Demo, food trucks and The Citizens Cruiser Drag Races.

SCHEDULE:

SATURDAY, MARCH 9 (All events are listed in Mountain Standard Time)

5:15 pm – Kids Race and Community Bike Parade presented by Living Streets Alliance (LSA) and El Grupo.
6:00 pm – Women’s Professional and Cat 1/2 Race
7:00 pm – Cruiser Bike Races – Open to everyone – Cash and prizes will be awarded to 8 finalists and the champion of the final heat.
7:15 pm – BMX Stunt Show with Pros from Premises Park.
8:00 pm – Men’s Professional and Cat 1 Race
9:15 pm – Podium awards for men and women including NCC and USA Crit Championship winners Jersey.
2nd Saturdays Downtown – Hang out after the race for music & 2nd Saturdays Downtown!
