Oftentimes as junior riders age out (turn 18) or lower category riders work their way and upgrade to higher ranks, they simply blend in with other riders without ‘learning the ropes’ and will quickly find themselves in over their head.
NLC’s primary goal as a USA CRITS D1 team is young rider development. A healthy blend of age, experience, passion and commitment will allow the team to grow and provide a healthy mentorship environment for riders to develop within the sport of criterium riding at its highest level, USA CRITS. Lead by experienced (read – ‘old and leathery’) racers, NLC hopes to build on a program of developing riders as soon as they express interest in racing.
The goal is that as riders progress they will understand the commitment required as well as the small things that only experience can teach, in effect cutting down on the learning curve that this fast, aggressive and exciting sport requires.
