RACING WITHOUT LIMITS IS BACK: USA CRITS ANNOUNCES 2025 SCHEDULE
With nine events total, the premiere series travels outside of the Southeast adding a stop at the inaugural Aksarben Tirc p/b Visit OmahaUSA CRITS heads into its 16th year in 2025, spanning the Southeastern United States and adding a brand-new cycling event in Omaha, Nebraska.
Established in 2007, the series is designed to provide a cohesive US-based racing calendar cognizant of both the selection of dates, as well as ease of travel for participating athletes. In 2024, USA CRITS consisted of six races on the cumulative points-based calendar, and in 2025, will increase the number to nine with the addition of three more events. This year’s calendar is now set to showcase these events over seven weeks during the spring months of April and May. Kicking off April 5 in Anniston, Alabama, the Sunny King Criterium has been a historic event in the South year after year, held just over an hour away from Atlanta.
“After last season, the ability to build on the series this year is a direct result of expanding our staff with new key members,” commented Megan K. Rocks, Assistant Director of Swagger LLC.
Swagger LLC, owner of USA CRITS, added Marilyn Cullinane, Production Manager and Event Strategist at Start Smart Events, to the team in 2024 as the Livestream Production Manager, and Thad Fischer, former director of the UCI BMX World Championships and former team director of the Cheerwine Women’s Professional Cycling Team, was named USA CRITS Director of Team Engagement.
“Both Marilyn and Thad are also race directors themselves of two events within the series this season, so they understand the athletes, the intricacies of the sport, and how to put on a great show,” said Gene Dixon, Director and Managing Partner of Swagger, LLC.
A new midwestern-based Omaha event shows promise to the expanding USA CRITS brand. Directed by Fischer, the Aksarben Tric p/b Visit Omaha makes its debut on May 17 in the heart of the city’s premier entertainment and shopping community.
“We are eager to showcase the new Omaha course in our schedule of USA CRITS races this year, all of which will be livestreamed in 2025,” noted Cullinane, who is also the race director of the kick-off event in Anniston.
The longstanding series Spin the District, coined ”Metro Atlanta’s favorite cycling series,” is joining the expanded calendar with the Hapeville Criterium on April 11 and the College Park Criterium on May 4. Previously the two Spin The District events were solely part of USA CRITS’ sister series, Speed Week, which runs April 24 through May 4, in the middle of the USA CRITS schedule. Affectionately nicknamed “Crit Camp,” many teams participate in both series for honors awarded to each series’ overall winners.
